Continuation of support for programs working to eliminate child abuse and neglect via the System of Care team, the Multidisciplinary Investigative Team, the Children's Bank and the SCAN (Stop Child Abuse & Neglect) program.

 
Danbury Youth Services
Danbury, CT

The Youth and Family Counseling Program offers long and short term counseling for children and their families. Assessment services, 24 hour crisis intervention, community referrals and parenting skills assistance are offered.
AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAMS
Ralphola Taylor YMCA
Bridgeport, CT
$35,000
The Youth Alternatives to Violence program supports intervention, education and recreation. Life skills, structured recreation, educational opportunities and a Youth Leadership Summit are components of the program.

 
Music and Arts Center for Humanity
Bridgeport, CT
$30,000
The Ailey Summer camp offers a tuition free, six-week summer dance program for 70 Bridgeport middle school students. Taught by Alvin Ailey faculty, the students are challenged by a rigorous dance curriculum culminating in an end of program performance.
SUPPORTING FAMILIES
Big Brothers/Big Sisters of SW CT
Bridgeport, CT

Big Brothers/Big Sisters will maintain existing and increase new mentoring matches in the Bridgeport area. The program provides children with a professionally supported relationship with a screened, trained, caring adult.

 
Domestic Violence Crisis Center
Norwalk, CT

The Child Advocate personnel offer supportive care and advocacy for children residing in emergency shelters due to domestic violence in their homes.
ADVOCACY
Center for Children's Advocacy
Hartford, CT
$25,000
The Teen Legal Advocacy Clinic of Fairfield County will provide training and legal advocacy to underserved youth in Bridgeport and group DCF placements. The Clinic will engage in systemic advocacy to address failures by the education, child protection or health care systems to meet the needs of poor youth.

 
CT Association for School-Based Health Centers
North Haven, CT

The Association is a diverse collaborative committed to supporting the goal of increased access to quality health care for all children in Connecticut schools. Support is given to establish a center of operations and hire an Executive Director to champion the work of the Association.
YOUTH ACTIVISM
FRESH New London
New London, CT
$10,000
The FRESH Youth Program strengthens youth organizing work around issues of food, justice and community health, as the youth grow, harvest and market healthy foods to low-income people in New London.

 
Solar Youth
New Haven, CT

This youth development initiative seeks to provide opportunities for young people to develop a positive sense of self and connection and commitment to others through programs that incorporate environmental exploration, leadership and community service.
